FORMING A MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE One person can not handle the responsibility of a membership drive. To help in gaining new members a membership committee should be developed. This membership committee should meet a few times annually to go over the responsibilities of phone calls, mailings, flyers, publicity, "word of mouth, etc. They can also go over what has worked/not worked with their membership drive. Another function of the membership committee to is make sure that potential members are aware of the upcoming events. The membership committee can also suggest a list of events that might appeal to more members to the executive board. WHEN FORMING A MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE:-Make sure it is made up of an assortment of TYG members ranging in age and TYG experience. (Try to have a person in each grade be on the committee) WHY BE ON THE MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE:-Many youth groups offer awards, reduced fees and special recognition to members who help to build membership. They make bringing new members a great way to become involved with TYG leadership.
