-TYG Leadership
Anyone who is interested in Judaism, in education, in affecting people's lives, or even in
getting to know other Jewish teens can be a TYG leader
-TYG Executive Board
The executive board is a body of leaders of the youth group who work together to organize
and plan the events and programs of the TYG. The board is also a governing body
which is elected or appointed to make decisions for the group. Here is an example of
a model structure of a TYG board.
President-Oversee the board and others working on programs for the TYG.
The Primary role for a youth group President is to motivate others to do their best
work for the TYG.
Vice Presidents
-Social Action
-Programming-In charge of most of the actual events.
-Religious and Cultural-Responsible for those aspects of the TYG's
program that relate directly to worship, spirituality, religious education, Jewish
holidays, Jewish textual study, Hebrew language and music, Israel and it's culture, Reform
history and ideology, and any other element which contribute to the Jewish aspect of the
group and its events or members.

Other positions have also been created in larger youth groups.

the TYG

with the TYG

The important thing to remember is to have a board that best fits the
needs of your TYG.
-TYG Advisor
Is the adult advisor to the TYG. The advisor is a very important part of the
workings of the group. The advisor provides the adult supervision that is needed in
TYG programming. Make sure that the advisor is alerted about all meeting, be they
planning meetings, committee meetings, board meetings, etc. Often the TYG advisor
can provide valuable input.
