MAKING TYG-RELATED PHONE
CALLS -Never be misleading when calling a TYG member. -Leave a message if the person is not there. -Call back!! -Call at convenient times (not late, not early) GUIDELINES TO MAKING YOUR TYG PHONE CALLS EFFECTIVE -Divide the phone list up. Try to call the same people for every event. In that way, you get used to the varying schedules of "your people." -Make an information card to place by your telephone, listing all of the info you are trying to get across -Be excited and involved in your TYG programming. -Don't be sarcastic. To a new member sarcasm can interfere with their sincere interest in youth group. -If you reach a parent, don't ignore this opportunity to publicize your TYG event. -Keep a list of all your "yes's," "no's," and "maybe's." -Spread the word that your making TYG phone calls. A lot of times new members will go if one of their friends are going. You can say "your buddy Emily is going too." -Don't pack too much information into one phone call -Leave your phone call, in case they have any questions. -Don't worry about getting anxious, this is perfectly normal.
